5 Ways to Step Up Your Fitness Game

5 Ways to Step Up Your Fitness Game

Hello, 2017! For my first post of the new year, I decided it would be great to start off by focusing on one of my main goals this year: to get back into a healthy routine of eating better and workin’ on my fitness.

Let’s face it – working out can be a real drag. Trust me, I totally understand the struggle of wanting to skip the gym for an extended Netflix & chill session. Luckily, the new year is the perfect time to press reset on your bad attitude towards exercising and just get moving!

5 Ways to Step Up Your Fitness Game

1) Set realistic goals.

Not a huge fan of working out? Start with small goals, and work your way up. My main goals right now are to do ab workouts 2-3 times a week at home, while setting aside at least one day a week to do a fun outside activity.

2) Create a killer workout playlist.

My Spotify playlist is packed full of upbeat and energizing jams that get me pumped to exercise. Music is a key part to making your workouts fun and motivating you to push yourself even further.

3) Find out a workout you actually like.

Try different things and see what works for you. Remember, machines aren’t the only way you can work out! Over the past few years, I realized how much I love group classes, specifically Pilates and Zumba, because it feels like less of a “workout,” but rather a fun way to spend time with friends.

4) Head outdoors.

Even if it’s just for 20 or 30 minutes a day, make it a priority to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. A few of my favorite outdoor workouts include walking my dogs, yoga in the park, and hiking.

5) Invest in new gear.

For me, this is definitely the most exciting and motivating part of working out. I make it a priority to invest in pieces that will be practical and last throughout the seasons (you might remember I wore these black crop leggings in my Skechers workout post last year too!) This year, I upgraded my kicks to a classic black and white pair that are easier to match in my everyday wardrobe.

I love this tips! They are so attainable and I always tell my clients to find a trainer they like. I think teachers make such a big difference on people ending time to fit in fitness! Great job on this post.
