Cruising the Caribbean

A few weeks ago, I went on my very first cruise to the Western Caribbean with my best friend Ema and her family. It was an unforgettable and adventure-filled trip. I’ve been so busy with Vegas, job interviews, birthday craziness and school starting up again that I haven’t gotten a chance to share some pictures and amazing experiences with you- until now ūüėÄ

We left LAX in the early afternoon¬†and landed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the late evening. The next morning we boarded on the Princess cruise ship and set off for our first destination. We began our week at Princess Cays, Princess’s private island in the Bahamas. It was the perfect¬†first beach day where we got to just swim, tan, and relax.

Our second stop was Ochos Rios, Jamaica where we took a tour to explore Dunn’s River Falls and the Coboya Gardens. Ema and I had to buy some water shoes outside the park (which of course didn’t keep me from falling flat on my butt the second I got there.) The rocks were extremely slippery and steep, but the view was spectacular and completely worth it.

In Grand Cayman we spent the day swimming with stingrays and snorkeling the nearby coral reefs. I even got to hold a few, even though I could barely reach the ocean floor and the rays were bigger than I am!

Our final stop was Cozumel, Mexico, where we spent another day swimming and relaxing on the beach. For lunch we ordered¬†nachos on the beach and then stopped by Se√Īor Frogs for dinner. The boat didn’t leave until later at night, so we spent the rest of the day exploring the town and doing a little¬†souvenir shopping.

Every night on the boat we had formal dining at 8 PM with an all-inclusive menu of choices. There were two formal nights where we got to get dressed up and take portraits with different backdrops set up at various spots of the boat. We made a few new friends at the 18 and over club, where they had a DJ and dancing every night. The theater had a few musical performances that we went to a few of the nights. My favorite part was probably the ice cream and pizza bar that we visited almost every day, as well as free room service for breakfast! By the end of the trip, I probably gained at least 10 lbs from all the buffet trips, fruity drinks, and midnight pizza snacks (but it was so worth it.)

So that concludes my summer Caribbean cruise adventure! I had the most amazing time and hopefully will be able to go on one again soon.

Have you ever been on a cruise before? If so, what are your favorite cruising destinations?
