Guess what? It’s my BLOGIVERSARY! I’ve been planning out this post for almost a month and am so excited that it’s finally here. Coincidentally, I just realized that my anniversary also lands on Earth Day – go figure!
I’d like to start off by saying how grateful I am.
These last three years of blogging have been an incredible learning experience and roller coaster of emotions. If you would have told my high school self three years ago that today I would be a part of an influential blogging community in OC and a nationwide group of girl boss influencers, working with various lifestyle and fashion brands, and met so many close friends through Instagram, I would have thought you were crazy. God has blessed with me with so many opportunities that I sometimes take for granted, but I truly am so thankful for the remarkable people and blessings that He has put in my life. I have come such a long way from when I started – at first many of my posts were random, sporadic and featured bad quality photos, but three years later I have developed a unique brand for WorldWideStylista and am creating consistent content every week.
This has been an unbelievable journey and I can’t express how much I appreciate all the love and support along the way these past three years.
When Azazie reached out to me about collaborating together, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for my blogiversary photo shoot. They have so many cute designs and colors to choose from, but I immediately fell in love with this light blue flowy gown. Since I had a short time frame, I wasn’t able to get a custom fit (production time usually takes 8-9 weeks) but I was determined to get this dress. I decided to go with the bigger size that they had available and got it altered on my own. I couldn’t be more happy with my “make it work” moment – the color looked even more gorgeous in person and the dress had three layers of fabric which I had a blast twirling around in!
Now for some BTS insider info about this shoot…
If you follow me on snap, you know that before the photo shoot I visited my friend Diana at the Urban Decay Store at Fashion Island to get my makeup done. I’ve never gotten my makeup professionally done for a shoot before, but I figured this special occasion would be the perfect time. She gave me that “J Lo Glow” that I wanted without going too heavy on the eye makeup and it turned out even better than I had envisioned. This girl is seriously talented – if you ever need your makeup done for a special event and live near the OC, Diana is your girl!
I had been planning to make these DIY globe balloons for a few weeks but I ran into a few problems while making and shooting with them. At first, I couldn’t figure out the helium and had to go back to Party City to get them blown up; the gold tassels I originally planned to use were sinking the balloons; and THEN they decided to not stay still for any of the photos! Basically almost everything that could have went wrong, did. However, these last 3 years have taught me that sometimes that’s just how life goes and all you can do is make the best of the situation. Luckily I have an amazing family and photographer that were able to help me work through it and nevertheless end up with some beautiful photos.
